Grosjean has had some great drives with lotus after a rough start in his debut season in 2012. It's unfortunate he wasn't able to achieve the dream of winning for them despite his epic drives towards the back end of the 2013 season. However, these moments are nothing but the past seeing as he's just been announced as the number 1 driver for the new Haas F1 team in 2016. How will this help his future?
Before moving onto Haas, you have to wonder why he left Lotus. He's had many strong races in past as I've mentioned already but with the financial troubles that are haunting Lotus right now, it doesn't seem like such a bad idea to switch teams right now. Of course Lotus have a high chance of being bought by Renault which would increasing their competitiveness but this obviously wasn't persuasive enough for Romain to stay with the team.
Haas F1 team is a unique team in the respect that they make a lot of their own parts thus cutting costs significantly and allowing more money for development. This must have been a factor in having Romain want to join the team. This and their budget, which could be a lot better than Lotus' if Renault don't buy them. Don't forget that Haas will be running with a Ferrari engine: the second best engine, just behind Mercedes.
By far the biggest reason to swing Grojean's decision to moving would be due to Haas' connections with Ferrari. This could be a sweet ticket into a Ferrari seat come the end of Raikkonen's era in the prancing horse, expected to be at the end of 2016.
Even though Grosjean will be hoping for that Ferrari seat in a few years time, he'll certainly give everything he's got at Haas F1 Team and lead them like a mature driver.
