Usually, the driver who takes a race win carries momentum and a positive attitude into the next race, giving him the best chance to win again. It's up to other drivers (in this case Hamilton) to break this momentum and take the next race win away from him.
Rosberg would have been heading into his home race following his win in Austria, so he would have had lots of momentum from both his previous result and the support from his fans. Since the German GP has been cancelled, it's Hamilton's home race next. It will be interesting to find out who has more momentum and ultimately pace. Will the support to Hamilton from the fans override the confidence gained by Rosberg from his recent race win?
Looking at last year's British GP, Rosberg led the race until about half way when his car broke down, forcing him to retire. Hamilton, starting from 9th, made some astonishing lap times during the race and it was clear he was faster that weekend. I expect it to be a similar story this year, in terms of pace.
Mercedes this year seem to be bulletproof when it comes to reliability this year so, if things continue as they have been, we should find out who actually has the better pace around this circuit. Hamilton will need to get a decent qualifying result first, though. Neither cars in the Mercedes garage this year have made mistakes or have had reliability issues in qualifying that leaves them out of position so we should see a fair battle for pole, as well as the win.
If Hamilton grabs pole, he will have taken his first step in getting back on track in terms of his pace which seemed to be lacking in Austria. Silverstone is a track that Hamilton has always been very good, so his confidence will be extremely high. Using this to beat Rosberg will steal his momentum and make his championship hopes stronger - but Rosberg is no easy guy to beat.
Judging by his previous success, pace, and support during the British GP's, i believe Hamilton will take pole and the win. However, people underestimated Rosberg before the Austrian GP. Only time will tell but all we can hope for is a close battle between the two great drivers.
